‘Fringe’ is a millinery realization on a larger scale.
Fashion design graduate and milliner extraordinaire Nikolina Kucan is the latest in a long line of RMIT students invited to exhibit her creations in the Blondes to Brunettes salon window as part of the Blondes to Brunettes + RMIT Fashion Friendship: 365 Days of Design by RMIT Fashion Design Students.
In her own words, the installation is an extension of recent experiments with shape and form. Nikolina goes on to say that as much as she has strived to create aesthetically pleasing pieces, her work is as much about technicality and refining her method of practice.
So, with ‘FRINGE’, a simple thing like removing a shape from a sculpted form has moved the piece into a new dimension.
